Reed Smith has bolstered its corporate and securities practice with the hiring of partner Ivan Chiang from K&L Gates. He will be based in the firm’s Shanghai office, which was established in July last year.

Chiang, who also has in-house experience, has advised Chinese clients for over 15 years on M&A, capital markets, private equity financing, investments, and construction and property-related issues. He has also helped companies list on stock exchanges in Hong Kong, London, and Luxembourg.

“Ivan’s proven track record of helping clients in China and Taiwan and through Asia, will complement our existing office expertise in Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai, and assist our clients when entering such a key world market,” said Roger Parker, Reed Smith’s managing partner for Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

“We have seen increasing referrals of client work into Shanghai in the last year from Reed Smith’s global platform,” said Jay Yan, the firm’s Shanghai office managing partner. “Ivan’s expertise in financial services, investment and capital markets gives added strength to our ability to serve clients investing in China.”
