Ropes & Gray has hired former Morrison & Foerster litigation lawyer Mimi Yang to join its Shanghai office as counsel, thereby expanding its litigation capacity in China.
Yang specialises in securities class actions, internal and government investigations (including FCPA and SEC enforcement matters), complex commercial litigations, and financial services litigations. She will be joining Ropes & Gray’s securities and complex business litigation group.
“We are extremely pleased to have Mimi join our practice group. Her broad expertise, particularly in securities-related disputes, will be a great benefit to our clients as we continue to expand the practice in different regions,” said Ropes & Gray’s securities litigation practice group leader, Randy Bodner, in a statement.
Yang has obtained a series of favourable results for major Chinese companies, including China International Capital Corp (Hong Kong) Ltd and China’s largest television manufacturer, Sichuan Changhong Electric Co, in her previous cases.
“(She) brings a breadth of experience handling securities litigation, FCPA and other government investigations, and is a welcome addition to the firm’s Shanghai office,” said Ropes & Gray Shanghai managing partner, Arthur Mok.
A graduate of New York University Law School and a B.S. degree holder from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Yang is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and English.
“I am very excited to join Ropes & Gray. The firm has a strong and growing track record in Asia, and is renowned for its securities litigation and enforcement work. My experience working for Chinese companies and multinationals with Chinese business interests will strengthen our offering to clients,” said Yang.
