Norton Rose has added former King & Wood Mallesons partner Li Jinnan to its Beijing banking team.

PRC and New York admitted Li previously worked in various deals including secured and unsecured lending, project financing, ship financing, inbound and outbound sovereign loans and inter-bank loans, and commodity financing across the energy, infrastructure and transport sectors. His experience with Chinese banks is especially strong.

Norton Rose’s North Asia head Phillip John said Li, an “impressive lawyer”, would be a fit for the firm’s China practice.

“He’s a native Mandarin speaker, and has worked on an array of significant inbound and outbound financing work. With our joining forces with Fulbright on June 1, 2013, his arrival adds even further strength to our team in the region, and is a sign of the continued commitment we have to growing our capabilities in China,” said John in a statement.

Li will be Norton Rose’s seventh partner in Beijing, and the third in their banking team along with Nigel Ward and Milton Osborn.

“Norton Rose is a practice with an enviable reputation and clear ambition to build on it. Its record in China and Asia-Pacific as a whole, and its fantastic global network are among the key reasons I decided to move. I’m looking forward to playing my part in the continued success of the practice,” said Li.
