Herbert Smith Freehills has added to its Greater China dispute resolution capabilities with the hire of Arthur Ma as a counsel in Beijing and Emily Lam as a senior consultant in Hong Kong.

Previously a counsel at Fangda Partners, Ma focuses on cross-border dispute resolution and international arbitration. He will work closely with Beijing partners May Tai and Jessica Fei.

Lam advises both Chinese and international clients on international arbitration as well as commercial litigation matters regarding banking, employment, fraud and insolvency.

“We are very pleased to welcome Arthur and Emily to the team. Their arrival is an excellent addition to our fantastic offering in Greater China, and of great benefit to our clients,” said Justin D’Agostino, Herbert Smith Freehills’ managing partner for Greater China, in a statement. “Our increasing number of Chinese clients seeking to work with native Chinese lawyers with excellent dispute resolution and English language capabilities made Arthur and Emily the obvious choice for us.”
