The Tianjin Bar Association is set to visit the UK this month, in a bid to strengthen ties with UK lawyers. The visit aims to provide business opportunities in China for UK lawyers and also pave the way for UK lawyers to break into other markets.

“The inward visit is part of an ongoing program to strengthen the Society’s and its members’ links with China, which is increasingly important as China’s role grows in the global economy. China’s legal services market provides opportunities for lawyers to work in a range of sectors and UK lawyers can also benefit from China’s international reach,” said Alison Hook, head of the UK Law Society’s international division.

Mindful of China’s spot as key global player, the UK Law Society launched a “Think China” program earlier this year. The program, which aims to enhance working relationships between UK lawyers and their counterparts in China, now plans to send a delegation to the Shanghai Expo in 2010.
