The ALB China Law Awards, widely recognised as China’s leading legal awards event, has once again identified the market leaders in the legal industry for 2010.
All eyes are on King & Wood this year. The firm has done it again, seizing the top gong of China Law Firm of the Year 2010. And by hauling in four other awards – Equity Market Deal of the Year, Insolvency & Restructuring Law Firm of the Year, Insurance Law Firm of the Year and Managing Partner of the Year – the firm collected more trophies than any other.
King & Wood was China Law Firm of the Year in 2007 and 2009, losing the accolade to Jun He in 2008. And while Jun He was recognised as Beijing Law Firm of the Year this year, King & Wood’s managing partner Wang Ling beat fellow finalist and last year’s winner Xiao Wei of Jun He to the Managing Partner of the Year award.
King & Wood now has more than 800 partners and lawyers working across 16 offices and is the first PRC firm to have merged with a Hong Kong firm and acquired Hong Kong law capability. In 2009, the firm completed many groundbreaking mandates, including the Wahaha Danone settlement, China Minsheng Bank’s IPO and the attainment of PRC antitrust approvals for two high-profile offshore M&A transactions – Pfizer / Wyeth and Fiat / Chrysler.
