A team of banking & finance lawyers led by Zheng Zhirong has recently left Zhenghan Law Firm to join budding firm Hansen & Partners in Shanghai.

Zheng, who focuses on banking & finance and real estate, has been appointed to Hansen’s partnership. Currently, the firm has six partners, most of whom joined from Shanghai Shenda Law Firm, including Andy Kuang, Ma San and Guang Chao.

According to Kuang, the new team, which takes the firm’s numbers up to about 20 lawyers, is part of the firm’s strategy to boost it banking & finance and real estate practice. While Kuang noted that Hansen has no specific plans for future expansions, his strong optimism in the Shanghai market seems to indicate otherwise. “The potential of the Shanghai market remains very large for the work that we do, there is a lot more market share to be seized and we are very optimistic about our growth,” said Kuang.

Hansen was established in 2008 and provides legal advice in areas ranging from banking & finance, litigation & arbitration, corporate, and IP and real estate.

After the departure of the team, Shanghai Zhenghan, which is known for banking & finance and litigation practices, now has about 50 lawyers. ALB
