After launching new branch offices in Suzhou, Beijing, Taizhou and Fujian this year, Zhongyin continues to expand even further out into the provinces. The firm has recently acquired Tianjin-based Yaze Law Firm and has restructured the 16 year-old firm top become its Tianjin branch.

The new office, staffed with a team of 20 legal professionals, will focus on real estate, international business, civil law, finance, IP and PE type work.

Drawn in by Tianjin’s bustling Binhai New Area (BNA), Zhongyin will compete with Beijing counterparts, including King & Wood, Grandall, Guantao and Zhonglun W&D.

According Grandall’s Tianjin-based partner Li Bin, the region is poised to attract even more new entrants. According to 2010 figures released in September this year, the BNA is set to displace Shanghai Pudong area by the end of the year, having scored better in many measures of economic activity.

The BNA’s GDP for H1 2010 was RMB225bn – a significant 26% increase from the same period last year.  In 2009, the BNA attracted approximately US$10bn of foreign capital while Shanghai Pudong’s figure was approximately half of that – US$5.5bn.

Lawyers in the region also note a significant increase in non-contentious work, especially in the PE, business restructuring, real estate, shipping and pre-IPO investments sector. ALB
