Magic circle firm Clifford Chance has promoted eight lawyers across its Beijing, Hong Kong and Shanghai offices to counsel roles. These appointments bring the total number of counsel promotions in Asia over the past year to 21.

Peter Charlton, Clifford Chance's regional managing partner for the Asia Pacific said: "Throughout the region, our strategy to double Asian revenues relies on the growth of senior lawyers, who combine technical excellence with deep local and business understanding. Nowhere is this more important than in China and these new appointments reflect our ambitions in this area."

In May this year the firm promoted 12 lawyers from its Asia offices to partner, including six lawyers from Hong Kong and four lawyers from offices in mainland China.
