Hogan Lovells has recruited an intellectual property (IP) partner to its Shanghai office from Perkins Coie, in a move that is expected to further strengthen its IP practice in the Asia-Pacific region.
William “Skip” Fisher will be moving to Shanghai from Seattle. His appointment comes shortly after Hogan Lovells hired Chinese intellectual property partner Song Zhu to its San Francisco office to oversee the firm’s Greater China IP practice.
Fisher, who is fluent in Mandarin, has a great deal of experience in China, has long time experience in China, with expertise in patents, trademarks, trade secrets, and copyright. His recent focus has been on technology, media and telecommunication (TMT), including technologies relating to e-commerce systems, electronic financial transactions, systems, network traffic management, secure data networks, and electronic media and digital rights management.
“(Fisher’s) hire is a key part of our strategy to evolve what is regarded as the leading IP practice in China,” said Crispin Rapinet, the firm’s Asia and Middle East regional managing partner, in a statement. ”His hire in Shanghai along with the arrival of Song Zhu in San Francisco is a formidable addition to our top-tier IP practice in Greater China.”
Hogan Lovells currently has a big IP team in Asia, comprising of 70 IP practitioners in Beijing, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Singapore and Tokyo. ALB
