Grandall Law Firm recently added Paris to its global network, in addition to its domestic expansion in Fuzhou, Xi’an and Nanjing. With a total of 13 offices, the Chinese firm now has covered the west and southeast regions on home soil and has started making inroads into Europe.

The Paris office of Grandall hired Sun Tao, the founder of Cabinet d'Avocats Sun Tao in Paris, as its head of practice. Sun’s own firm effectively merged into Grandall under a strategic partnership agreement. Qualified in the PRC and France, Sun is experienced in Chinese investment, trade and cross-border M&As in Europe, Africa, Middle East and America. He previously served as an in-house counsel to Chinese telecommunications company, Huawei.

Domestically, Grandall merged with Fujian Howsen Law Firm, whose partners Hua Ming, Chen Guibin and Tan Mulin will lead the new venture in the southeastern city of Fuzhou. With Howsen’s 12 year old practice in Fujian province, the new Grandall office will offer services in the finance, corporate and real estate sectors.

With its opening in Xi’an, Grandall will focus on corporate restructuring, securities, M&As, insolvency and long-term legal counselling services. Its lead partner Liu Fengyun is an expert in the capital markets and restructurings, as well as an arbitrator of the Xi’an Arbitration Commission.

In the new Nanjing office, Grandall has allocated a number of capital market lawyers, headed by Ma Guoqiang, to develop relevant practices to satisfy the strong local demand. Ma specialises in project structuring, contract negotiations, asset acquisitions and restructuring.  He was involved in numerous major deals across a range of sectors including real estate, infrastructure, import and export, iron and steel, finance, retailing, medicine, cement, textiles and TMT.
