China granted licences to five overseas institutional investors in May, allowing them to buy Chinese stocks and bonds.

The licences, under the Qualified Foreign Institutional Investor (QFII) scheme, were awarded
to investors including HFT Investment Management (HK) Ltd, HSBC Global Asset Management (Taiwan)
Ltd and China Everbright Assets Management Ltd.

Overseas investors include Hong Kong subsidiaries of Chinese financial institutions.
