Winston & Strawn has hired intellectual property expert Horng-Dar Lin as a partner at its Taipei office, which opened in April this year. Lin joins from Sovereign Law Office, a law firm he founded.

Lin began his legal career as a District Judge in Taipei before joining Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner as senior attorney, and the Lexcel Partners as of counsel.

For more than two years, Lin was vice-president of Foxconn, handling corporate and IP strategy. He also has a technology background.

“We are delighted to welcome Horng-Dar to the firm,” said John Alison, office managing partner, Winston & Strawn Taipei, in a statement. “His decision to join Winston significantly expands our capabilities not only in Taipei, but also for Winston’s intellectual property and corporate practice in Asia and globally.”

With Lin’s joining, the Winston & Strawn Taipei office has seven partners.
