Reed Smith has bolstered its Shanghai corporate practice with the hire of Alexander Fischer as a partner from German firm Rödl & Partner.

Fischer specialises in Chinese and European M&A, foreign direct investment and investigations, and also handles South Korean work.

“Alex’s arrival is another step in our strategy to strengthen our China practice,” said Roger Parker, Reed Smith’s Asia managing partner, in a statement.

Fischer’s hire closely follows the addition of corporate partner Gregory Wang to Reed Smith’s Hong Kong office in September.
