Beijing-based Haiwen & Partners has recruited transactional attorney Guiping Lu as a partner for its corporate practice in Shenzhen. Previously, he was an Of Counsel with the Hong Kong office of Latham & Watkins.
With over 15 years of legal experience, Lu focuses on equity and debt capital markets deals, cross-border M&A as well as private equity, pre-IPO and venture capital financing transactions. Qualified to practice in the U.S., he had a four-year stint as an assistant professor of English at a university in Nanjing prior to being a lawyer.
Mr. Lu is a graduate of the University of Washington Law School where he earned a Master of Laws degree in Asian & Comparative Law and a Juris Doctor degree. Mr. Lu is qualified in the PRC, Hong Kong and the State of Washington of the United States. Prior to commencing his legal career, Mr. Lu was an assistant professor of English for four years.
Haiwen's Shenzhen office was officially approved last December and has two partners and six lawyers at the moment.
