Allen & Overy has represented B2B event organiser UBM in its $485 million all-cash acquisition of Asian exhibitions company Allworld, which turned to Herbert Smith Freehills for advice.
Allworld operates 51 tradeshows in 11 countries including Singapore, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar, South Korea, Bahrain and Kuwait. The company generated revenues of $97.2 million in the 12 months ended June 30.
A&O partners Jeremy Parr and Richard Kim handled the transaction for the firm. The HSF team was led by corporate partners Gavin Williams and Alan Montgomery.
In October, UBM sold its PR Newswire business to U.S. news release service company Cision for $841 million.
UBM is expected to continue making bolt-on acquisitions and to keep looking at "bigger" ones, reported Reuters.
