White & Case has hired Jianchong (Andre) Zhu as M&A partner in Beijing from Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, where he was counsel.
Zhu has advised financial sponsors and strategic investors on cross-border M&A, as well as representing corporate clients and investment banks on various corporate matters.
At Skadden, Zhu acted as counsel on Jacobs Douwe Egberts’ $1 billion buyout of Super Group in November, Shandong Hongda’s $300 million acquisition of UK game developer Jagex Limited in March last year, and Shanghai Jinjiang International Hotels Development’s $1.3 billion controlling stake in Keystone Lodging Holdings in 2015.
Zhu is a rare Beijing partner hire for White & Case. The firm previously hired at least six partners in its Hong Kong office since 2015, but it lost its China head to Han Kun Law Offices earlier in January.
