Haiwen & Partners has hired mergers and acquisitions expert Jieni Gu as a partner in its Shanghai office from Ropes & Gray. 

Gu started her career at Sullivan & Cromwell in 2006, and was with the firm until 2014. After that, she had a stint at Weil, Gotshal & Manges. 

Gu’s practice focuses on cross-border mergers and acquisitions, private equity investments, foreign direct investment, and corporate issues. She has represented large-scale state-owned enterprises, private enterprises, and multinational companies within the life science, energy & natural resources, finance, and manufacturing sectors. 

“The addition of Gu reinforces Haiwen’s capabilities in mergers & acquisitions,” the firm said in a statement.
