Clifford Chance and Linklaters have advised Bank of China (BOC) on the issuance of a $1.83 billion bond to support the development of China’s Greater Bay Area (GBA) initiative.
JunZeJun Law Offices and Jingtian & Gongcheng advised the Bank of China and the managers on PRC law, respectively.
The GBA links the cities of Hong Kong, Macau, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Foshan, Zhongshan, Dongguan, Huizhou, Jiangmen and Zhaoqing into an integrated economic and business hub.
The proceeds from the transactions will be used to finance various loan projects in the GBA, notably the recently-opened Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge (HZMB), the $20 billion road bridge and tunnel that connects Hong Kong with Macau and China.
The Clifford Chance team was led by partner Connie Heng, its head of capital markets for Asia Pacific. The Linklaters team that advised BOC’ Macau and Hong Kong branches was led by partner Michael Ng.
The JunZeJun team was led by the firm’s director Yunbo Li, while the Jingtian team was led by partner Tezhi Ling.
