Chengdu-based Tahota Law Firm has set up an Ethiopia desk in its Shanghai office after entering into a strategic alliance with a firm in the African nation – Dawit & Associates Law Office.
The past few years have seen an increase in Chinese companies investing in Ethiopia against the backdrop of China’s Belt & Road Initiative, but the differences in the systems, laws & regulations, policies, environments and markets of the two countries have led to a rise in disputes and other challenges.
Tahota Shanghai has been assisting Chinese clients in doing business in Ethiopia in the past few years and has familiarity with the local authorities and law firms in that country. Tahota will soon launch a “China-Africa Legal Business Centre” in Ethiopia.
