Latham & Watkins has hired China-focused private equity specialist Frank Sun from Kirkland & Ellis as partner in its corporate department in Hong Kong.

Sun’s hire comes a few months after the firm added five new partners in Hong Kong.

Sun’s practice involves China-focused transactions from private equity investments, to private and public M&A, joint ventures and structured corporate financing transactions. He advises clients on private equity investments in China-based targets, Chinese outbound acquisitions, US privatizations, Hong Kong public takeovers, and other M&A transactions involving U.S.- or Hong Kong-listed companies.

“We are excited to welcome Frank to the firm. He brings sophisticated legal skills and astute commercial instincts to our team, and he offers unique perspectives on both the local and international markets that will be invaluable to our clients,” said Simon Powell, Latham & Watkins’ office managing partner in Hong Kong, in a statement.
