King & Wood Mallesons has announced plans to build an international centre focusing on China’s Greater Bay Area (GBA) initiative.

The GBA initiative links the cities of Hong Kong, Macau, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Foshan, Zhongshan, Dongguan, Huizhou, Jiangmen and Zhaoqing into an integrated economic hub. The GBA currently has a population of approximately 68 million people with a combined GDP of more than $1.3 trillion. By 2030, the population is forecast to grow to 86 million, with GDP expected to exceed $4.6 trillion.

The establishment of the centre is expected to build on KWM’s Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Sanya offices and offer increased services related to both GBA construction projects, as well as Belt & Road Initiative projects.
