U.S. law firm Proskauer Rose has opened its Beijing office, its first on the Chinese mainland and second in Asia after Hong Kong.
The firm said that opening was in response to the demands of its fast-growing practice in Asia, where many of its clients are “focusing their attention, time and money.” Proskauer currently has 20 fee earners in its two Asia offices.
The Hong Kong office, which opened in 2008, focuses on core practice areas including private equity, mergers and acquisitions and capital markets. The firm expects to continue this growth in Hong Kong and Beijing in these and other strategic practice areas.
"This marks the next step in our global strategy of serving the needs of our clients in the major financial markets of the world where they are located and doing business," said Joseph M. Leccese, chairman of Proskauer, in a statement. "It will allow us to continue to expand the work we are doing as our clients build their businesses in Asia, enabling them--and us--to capitalize on the full range of available opportunities." ALB
