Dacheng has successfully absorbed its fourth law firm in less than six months. The legal giant has recently merged with De Qin Law Firm, a Shanghai firm well-reputed for its real estate and IP practices. The merger will make Dacheng the second largest firm in Shanghai, following closely behind AllBright Law Firm (85 partners, over 380 lawyers and 5 branches).

Dacheng’s Shanghai branch, founded in 2001, employed 49 partners and 66 lawyers before the merger. 30 lawyers including five partners – Wu Chenyao, Mo Fei, Li Chen, Shang Jiangang and Zhang Zhisong – join Dacheng from De Qin. Dacheng’s senior partner Liu Yixing, who focuses on capital markets and IP work, is the newly appointed Shanghai office chairman.

De Qin was established in 2005, its key partners came from Shanghai Qian He Law Firm and Jianwei Law Firm. Zhang Zhisong was managing partner of the firm before its merger with Dacheng.

Apart from absorbing De Qin, Dacheng also recently merged with other leading regional firms including Guangzhou Xin Yang Law Firm, Kingfield Law Firm and Beijing Fengqing Law Firm. Its expansion ambitions extends beyond domestic barriers – the firm launched its Taiwan branch last month and also finalised its New York location at the same time. ALB
