Having just advised Agricultural Bank of China (ABC) on its mammoth US$19.2bn IPO, King & Wood is now helping China Everbright Bank prepare for its US$3bn IPO. Everbright recently received approval from the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) to raise approximately US$3bn on the Shanghai Stock Exchange. The bank also plans to launch an IPO in Hong Kong (depending on market conditions) after its A-share listing.
The bank was scheduled to list in 2008 but had to shelve its plans due to the outbreak of the financial crisis. According to its draft prospectus, it could face a big capital shortfall in the next three years if it does not list.
King & Wood, which recently topped Bloomberg's 2010 H1 China Domestic IPO Issuer Advisors league table, previously advised China Everbright Group on its restructuring operations. Haiwen also previously dealt with Everbright when it was advising China SAFE Investments on its Everbright investments in 2007.
Everbright is controlled by Central Huijin, the investment arm of China's sovereign wealth fund.
It is also China's 11th largest bank by assets.
*The lead underwriters are China Jianyin Investment Securities, Shenyin & Wanguo Securities and China International Capital Corp. ALB
