U.S. law firm Squire Sanders has bolstered its presence in Asia with the addition of four new partners to its Greater China team. Corporate specialists Jenny Liu and Xudong Ni have joined the firm’s offices in Beijing and Shanghai, while corporate partner Sin Kiu Ng and intellectual property expert Kam Law have moved to the Hong Kong branch.
While Liu focuses primarily on private equity and venture capital investment matters in China, Ni advises on cross border M&As, FDI, Chinese regulatory issues and dispute resolution. On the other hand, Ng’s knowledge of the corporate sphere has her actively involved in IPOs, M&A and venture capital work. Law, meanwhile, is registered as a U.S. patent attorney and qualified in the U.S. and Hong Kong.
“Jenny, Xudong and Sin Kiu are highly regarded in their local markets and their experience strengthens our ability to offer comprehensive corporate counsel to companies doing business in the Asia-Pacific region,” said Squire Sanders’ global corporate practice group leader, William Downs, in a statement.
Speaking about Law, Squire Sanders’ IPT practice group leader, David Elkins, said that his understanding of the life and health science technologies industry ties in with the firm’s existing global practice.
“Kam also brings significant experience in providing intellectual property-related due diligence support associated with corporate transactions, and adding this capability will enhance the services we currently provide across the Asia-Pacific region,” he said.
The four new recruits are the latest developments in Squire Sanders’ push into Asia. The firm had opened an office in Singapore in April this year, which is now being headed by partner Ignatius Hwang. It has also applied to the Korean Ministry of Justice to establish an office in Seoul. ALB
