Ashurst has been granted a licence by the Ministry of Justice of the People's Republic of China (PRC) to operate a representative office in Beijing.
The Beijing office will be led by Patrick Phua, who joined Ashurst in March 2012 from Mallesons ahead of the KWM merger. Ashurst Beijing will focus primarily on banking and finance work, as well as assisting PRC corporates in relation to outbound investment.
Ashurst already has offices in Shanghai and Hong Kong, comprising 13 partners and over 60 lawyers in total.
