AdventBalance, an Australasian law firm of secondment lawyers, has opened an office in Hong Kong, in a move that signals growing demand for its unique business model.

Comprising over 100 lawyers in Asia-Pacific, AdventBalance offers its clients an alternative to traditional law firms. The firm’s niche business model involves seconding lawyers in-house for an agreed duration and fee.

The Hong Kong office is AdventBalance’s second in Asia, after the firm opened in Singapore in late 2011.

"As an international business hub, Hong Kong is a very attractive market for us and we look forward to replicating our success in Australia and Singapore in this market," said John Knox, managing director of AdventBalance Asia, in a statement. "Moreover, Hong Kong’s strategic importance as a gateway to China and the rest of Asia makes it well-positioned to support our long-term growth to attain pre-eminence in the legal profession."
