ALB has become a media sponsor of the 2013 Asia-Pacific Regional Arbitration Group (APRAG) Conference to be held between June 27 and 29 in Beijing.
APRAG is the regional federation of arbitration associations in Asia-Pacific, which now has 38 members across the region. The theme of this year’s conference, to be hosted by the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC), is “international arbitration in the Asia-Pacific region in the next 10 years - opportunities and challenges.”
“The conference is set to feature prominent arbitration experts from around the world to discuss Asia-Pacific’s future in arbitration as it looks to strengthen its foothold in the realm of international arbitration,” said Sundra Rajoo, president of APRAG, in a statement.
The topics to be discussed include new trends and innovations in international arbitration rules, emergency arbitrator and interim measures, managing arbitration proceedings offshore, development of mediation - challenging litigation and arbitration, maritime arbitration in the region, enforcement of arbitral awards in the region, investment treaty arbitration, and cultural differences and predictions for arbitration in the next 10 years.
APRAG was established in November 2004 in Sydney by 17 founding members including the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre, the Singapore International Arbitration Centre, the Australian Centre for International Commercial Arbitration and CIETAC. It aims to improve the standards and knowledge of international arbitration, and makes submissions on behalf of the region to national and international organisations.
The APRAG conference takes place every other year, and this year is the fifth time after Sydney, Hong Kong, Seoul and Kuala Lumpur.
