London-based employment and commercial litigation law firm Ferguson Solicitors LLP is set to open an office in Hong Kong next month.
Ferguson Solicitors LLP, which also handles corporate and regulatory matters, will enter into an association with Foo & Li Solicitors, a medium-sized Hong Kong law firm that specialises in conveyancing and litigation.
Employment and regulatory expert Andrea Randall will head the new office, which is expected to launch on Dec. 1.
Ferguson Solicitors LLP are well known for advising financial and legal professionals in disputes with their employers. Randall advises clients on both contentious and non-contentious employment matters, including contractual rights, unfair and wrongful dismissal disputes, bonus disputes, as well as individuals caught up in internal and SFC regulatory investigations.
While the Hong Kong branch’s primary focus will be on employment law, it will also handle a growing amount of local and international regulatory work, said Randall in an interview with ALB.
“We do traditional employment work, including wrongful termination and discrimination claims. But as enforcement action has increased throughout the world, and certainly in Hong Kong, we are seeing more regulatory work.”
Ferguson Solicitors LLP’s Hong Kong office will work together with the lawyers at Foo & Li, but as the practice builds up, it will look to make its own hires, said Randall.
