Vinson & Elkins has opened an office in Taipei, its fourth in Asia and 16th worldwide.
Partners David Tsai and Christopher Kao will head the office, which will offer litigation, transactional and strategic legal services, with a particular emphasis on commercial litigation, intellectual property, renewable energy and corporate matters.
Tsai and Kao moved to V&E from Perkins Coie in September 2015. Tsai’s experience includes international arbitration, IP litigation, patent prosecution and related matters. Kao also focuses on IP litigation, as well as on commercial litigation.
“V&E’s move into Taipei will greatly benefit the firm’s global IP and litigation practices while also generating synergies with our other offices and practice groups serving clients based in Asia,” said Darryl Woo, co-head of V&E’s IP practice group, in a statement.
The firm's three other Asia-Pacific offices are in Beijing, Hong Kong and Tokyo.
