DLA Piper has nabbed Li Qiang, the former managing partner of O'Melveny & Myers in Shanghai, along with OMM counsel Stewart Wang, who joins his new firm as partner.

The departure of Li leaves Walker Wallace as the only resident partner in Shanghai. OMM has seen a number of exits in Asia in the past two years. In Singapore, for example, it only has one resident partner in Nathan Bush.

Li, a M&A lawyer with 20 years of experience in Hong Kong and Shanghai, will co-manage DLA Piper’s Beijing and Shanghai offices, along with partner Roy Chan.

Wang has more than a decade of experience in representing clients on cross-border M&A, private venture capital, joint venture, financing, employment and dispute resolution matters.

Prior to O’Melveny & Myers, Qiang and Wang both worked with Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.
