Morgan, Lewis & Bockius has opened an office in Shanghai, its sixth office in Asia and its second in China. It is also the firm’s 29th worldwide.
The Shanghai office will have five partners, namely Mitch Dudek, Todd Liao, Alex Wang, Eddie Hsu, and Cindy Pan, along with 18 other lawyers.
The office is expected to offer legal services in mergers and acquisitions, real estate, private equity, fund formation and transactional work. Additionally, it will provide advice on the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), the UK Bribery Act, technology licensing, intellectual property protection and enforcement, and labour and employment.
Last year, Morgan Lewis expanded into Singapore with the establishment of Morgan Lewis Stamford. Its other Asia offices are in Tokyo (which it expanded in 2014 with the addition of lawyers from Bingham McCutchen), Beijing, and the cities of Almaty and Astana in Kazakhstan.
