AnJie Law Firm has become the latest Chinese firm to open in Hong Kong after opening an office in the city through a tie-up with Hwang Hauzen, which was set up last year by Dechert’s former office head.

The Beijing headquartered-AnJie is 26th Chinese firm to open an office in the SAR. With a headcount of 200 lawyers in Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen, it specialises in antitrust, regulatory and insurance work as well as general corporate matters, private equity deals, cross-border M&A, IP, employment, government policy, high-stakes litigation and arbitration.

This new alliance will be led by Basil Hwang, who headed Dechert’s Hong Kong office head until 2014, when he left for Chinese firm Zhong Lun. He also had stints with Allen & Gledhill, O’Melveny & Myers and Clifford Chance.
