Fish & Richardson, one of the most prominent intellectual property law firms in the U.S., will open a representative office in the southern Chinese city of Shenzhen.
The Shenzhen office, which should launch in January, will provide U.S. and EU law advice to clients like Huawei Technologies, Ant Financial and Hisense.
Fish & Richardson is the second international law firm to open an office in Shenzhen after fellow U.S. IP outfit Brinks Gilson & Lione launched there in December 2017.
Austin-based principal Ryan McCarthy will serve as the office’s chief representative and will be joined by Houston associate Yong (Eric) Peng.
Fish & Richardson has more than 400 attorneys in 12 offices around the world. It recently forged a partnership with Zhejiang Hangzhou Future SCI-TECH City (STC) to service clients in East China.
Shenzhen, known as “China’s Silicon Valley,” boasts the highest number of PCT applications in China and is home to many of China’s most innovative companies.
