Baker McKenzie has advised U.S. retail property specialist Taubman Centres on the $480 million sale of a 50 percent stake in three shopping centres in China and South Korea to Blackstone Group, which was represented by Simpson Thacher & Bartlett.
Following the deal, Taubman will remain responsible for the joint management of the three shopping centres in Hanam, South Korea, Xi’an, China and Zhengzhou, China.
The Baker McKenzie team was led by Jason Ng, Hong Kong-based partner and co-chair of the firm’s global investment funds group.
The Simpson Thacher team was led by Hong Kong partner Tony King. Blackstone was also represented by Kirkland and Ellis, on the international regulatory compliance aspects (led by Hong Kong partner Cori Lable), and Global Law Office and Kim & Chang, which acted as PRC counsel and Korean counsel, respectively.
