美国博钦律师事务所向ALB证实，该所已启动关闭其北京办公室的程序，未来将把在中国发展的战略重心转移到深圳。
这是博钦继今年3月关闭上海办公室后，在中国内地做出的又一调整。博钦也成为了今年第9家调整中国运营的外国律所——上周，礼德刚刚宣布了关闭北京办公室的消息。
博钦北京办公室开设于2001年，根据其官网，目前共有11名员工，包括4位合伙人、5位律师、2位商务支持人员。
其中彭明 Scott J. Palmer律师是北京办公室管理合伙人，但常驻北京、纽约两地；合伙人万思捷Geoffrey Vance曾任已关闭的上海办公室管理合伙人、合伙人Michael House也是从上海迁来，两人分驻北京和美国两地；合伙人James Zimmerman常驻北京。
博钦尚未透露北京员工的未来去向。
博钦表示，作为中国领先的科创中心，深圳经历了极速增长，这是驱动该所做出战略转移的原因。“这一变化将帮助博钦更好地为位于深圳的中国客户提供服务——包括我们专长的知识产权及相关诉讼服务，以及公司、国际贸易、商标等服务。”
2019年，博钦在北京设立了博钦珂祎知识产权代理（北京）有限公司，并在深圳开设了该公司的分支机构。博钦透露，该所正在计划正式设立深圳办公室。
“我们依旧承诺于在亚洲的发展，期待继续为亚洲地区的高科技企业、企业家提供法律服务。”博钦表示。
Perkins Coie to Close Beijing Office, Shift Strategic Focus to Shenzhen
Perkins Coie has commenced the process of closing its Beijing office and will shift its strategic focus in China to Shenzhen, the firm confirmed to ALB.
This move follows the firm’s decision to close its Shanghai office in March this year, marking another adjustment in its operations within mainland China. Perkins Coie has now become the ninth foreign law firm this year to relook its operations in China, following Reed Smith’s recent announcement to close its Beijing office last week.
The Beijing office of Perkins Coie, established in 2001, currently has 11 staff members, including four partners, five lawyers, and two business support personnel, according to its official website.
Among them, Scott J. Palmer serves as the managing partner of the Beijing office, though he divides his time between Beijing and New York. Partner Geoffrey Vance, who previously served as the managing partner of the now-closed Shanghai office, and partner Michael House, who also relocated from Shanghai, split their time between Beijing and the U.S. Partner James Zimmerman is primarily based in Beijing.
Perkins Coie has not yet disclosed the future plans for its Beijing employees.
Perkins Coie explained that Shenzhen, as a fast-growing tech hub in China, has experienced “explosive growth,” which is the driving force behind the firm's strategic shift. "The move will enable Perkins Coie to better serve its China clients in the fast-growing tech hub of Shenzhen - including the firm’s strengths advising on IP and patent litigation issues as well as corporate law, international trade, and trademark matters."
In 2019, Perkins Coie established an IP Agency in Beijing, with a branch in Shenzhen. The firm revealed that it “hoped to have more news to share regarding our planned Shenzhen office opening soon.”
“We remain committed to our presence in Asia and look forward to continuing to advise many high-tech companies and entrepreneurs across Asia,” Perkins Coie stated.
