PRC’s Anli launches North American office
Beijing-based law firm Anli Partners has entered the North American legal market with the opening of an office in Prince Edward Island, Canada, becoming the first Chinese firm to establish a presence in the province.
This is Anli’s second international expansion following the launch of its Tokyo office.
The new office will be led by principal partner Xu Xiaomeng, with support from honorary counsel James McNutt, and consultant Sara Huang.
The three newly added lawyers specialise in investment, mergers and acquisitions, international intellectual property, family trusts, immigration, real estate, and international trade dispute resolution.
Xu specializes in foreign investment, mergers and acquisitions, international intellectual property, litigation and arbitration, and family trusts. Prior to joining Anli, Xu has served in foreign-related law firms, the Commercial Office of the U.S. Embassy in China, Fortune 500 enterprises, large domestic leading listed companies and internet companies.
"With the active expansion of Chinese enterprises' overseas business, the legal industry has also ushered in new opportunities for internationalization. Anli's overseas layout is timely and of great significance. We hope that the establishment of the new office and the joining of the three colleagues can help the law firm deepen professional division of labor, improve service accuracy and professionalism, seize new opportunities for cross-border legal services, provide clients with higher quality and more efficient foreign-related legal services, and lay a solid foundation for the sustainable development of the law firm," says Wang Qingyou, head of Anli.
The move marks a solid step taken by the Security Council in building a global legal service network and improving the quality and efficiency of foreign-related legal services, Anli said in a statement.
“In the future, the Security Council will also take the establishment of its North American office as a new starting point to further leverage its advantages in cross-border legal services, cultivate legal talents with international perspectives and cross-cultural communication abilities, continue to promote the integration of China's legal service market with the international community,” Anli added.
