Chengdu-headquartered Tahota Law Firm has hired 15 partners and one counsel, of whom 10 partners are joining the firm’s recently established office in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province.

The Taiyuan office, which was set up last month, is Tahota’s 13th office in China. The addition of the 10 new partners is expected to reinforce the firm’s expertise in energy & mining, environment & resources, PPP compliance, commercial dispute resolution, constructions, internet finance, M&A and restructuring. The Taiyuan office will work closely with the offices in Beijing and Shanghai.

The other new hires have joined the firm’s offices in Beijing, Xi’an, Shanghai, and Guiyang.

The sole counsel among the new hires is trade lawyer Guogang Li, who joined the Beijing office from White & Case.  His areas of practice include inbound and outbound trade remedy cases, World Trade Organization negotiations and disputes, investigation and execution of U.S. trade laws, customs execution, regulatory issues involving trade and investment in China, and issues arising under China’s Anti-Monopoly law.

Previously, Li served as a director in the Chinese Ministry of Commerce for 20 years, where he participated in more than 50 anti-dumping investigations, and designed many of China’s trade laws and regulations.

With the new additions, Tahota now has 270 partners in China.
