Fenwick & West has bolstered its M&A practice in China after hiring Niping Wu from Kaye Scholer as a corporate partner in the firm’s Shanghai office.

Wu’s areas of expertise include representing Chinese companies in outbound investment and assisting Chinese issuers on IPO-related matters in the United Stated.

At Fenwick, Wu will advise international funds and multi-national companies in private equity, strategic M&A and debt financing transactions, as well as joint venture projects in China.

“Sustained activity in cross-border investments and M&A in the technology sector is driving increased demand for our services in China,” said Richard Dickson, chairman of Fenwick & West, in a statement. “Niping’s arrival will help us expand our offerings in China. She is a very strong addition to our team.”

Fenwick, which is focused on technology and life sciences, opened its licensed representative office in Shanghai in May 2014.
