K&L Gates has hired corporate partner Frank Voon in Beijing from Allen & Overy, marking the U.S. firm’s seventh partner recruitment in the Asia-Pacific region in the first three months of 2014.

Voon, who has practiced in China since 2004, has experience in cross-border M&A, corporate reorganizations, and joint ventures. He has advised foreign entities investing in China, and also advises Chinese companies on their outbound investments. Previously, he worked in Australia and Singapore.

“Frank’s cross-border experience further strengthens our growing corporate practice in the region. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge about China, which will be invaluable to our clients doing business in this complex market,” said David Tang, K&L Gates’ Asia managing partner, in a statement.

Currently, K&L Gates has some 400 lawyers based in 11 offices across Asia and Australia.
