Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe has bolstered its corporate practice with the hire of Ning Zhang as a partner in Beijing.

Prior to joining Orrick, Zhang was a counsel in O’Melveny & Myers’ Beijing office, where he had been working for ten years advising on M&A, with a focus on the technology sector.

Zhang has represented Chinese tech companies including Alibaba on its acquisition of internet companies KTPlay and Anquanbao. In addition to M&A, he focuses on private equity and venture capital.

“Ning deepens our bench in M&A, private equity, venture capital and capital markets. He brings deep knowledge of China’s technology sector, which is one of the most active and growing areas of our practice,” said Edwin Luk, Orrick’s global capital markets practice head, in a statement.
