Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe has hired corporate expert Jinsong (Jeff) Zhang as a partner in M&A and PE practice from King & Wood Mallesons. Zhang will split his time between Beijing and New York.

Zhang’s experience includes advising both Chinese state-owned enterprises and private companies in cross-border public and private M&A, tender offers, privatizations, spinoffs and joint ventures, as well as advising Chinese financial institutions on U.S. regulatory and compliance matters.

Prior to joining KWM, Zhang held an in-house role as head of legal and compliance at the U.S. arm of CITIC Securities. Earlier in his legal career, he worked as associate with Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom in Beijing, and with Linklaters in New York and Hong Kong.

Zhang is Orrick’s 17th partner hire to its global M&A practice since 2016, and the firm’s third lateral hire in China in 2017.
